Autumn Open Day - Sunday 2 September 2007
Our Autumn Open Day was a great success, thanks to all the supporters, volunteers and visitors who turned up on the day!
We all had a fantastic time, and you helped to raise over £1,930 for all the animals at St Francis Animal Welfare! Thank you!

Talented singing duo, Emma and Jack, wowed the crowds, and had visitors packing out our BBQ area to listen to them perform! Their act was enjoyed by absolutely everyone, and we hope to have them along to future Open Days! However, we wouldn't be surprised if they get booked up in no time, after the amount of interest and praise from everyone who heard them!
We would also like to thank our dancers, who volunteered their services on the day ... Samhain Morris treated us to colourful and traditional dances, accompanied by live music from their four piece band, while Sally's Stompers offered a fine and fun performance of line dancing.
We would also like to thank, Gavin Horstead, for volunteering to supervise Francis, our Animal Welfare Bear. Francis greeted visitors at the entrance, and offered free cuddles to anyone who asked!
Our BBQ area was incredibly busy from the outset! We even ran out of burgers at one point, and had to make an emergency dash for more! We are extremely grateful to the Oven Door Bakery of Fair Oak for their very generous donation of bread rolls for our vegetarian burgers and hot dogs, as well as the scrummy jam doughnuts for our cake stall!
Our resident animals were a great attraction! Visitors were given the chance to feed and pet our goats - Nancy, Barley, Charlie Brown and Corey - Bramble the sheep and Buttons, our youngest deer.
As always, we really appreciated all the donations of pet food that were brought along by visitors!
It was unfortunate that we had to take the precaution of closing the cat houses to visitors, due to a recent outbreak of a possible bacterial infection, but it was too risky to expose the cats and kittens to so many different people. Our apologies to anyone who came especially to see our cats and kittens ..... we will update you as to when their houses are re-opened to the public, so you will be able to visit them.
Another thank you goes to our team of volunteers, who helped to man all our stalls on the day! They did an amazing job!
And, by no means least, we would like to thank YOU for supporting St Francis Animal Welfare. The staff and animals all hope you will join us again on future Open Days!
