Local bakery helps us rescue a donkey!

Chocolate Muffin

The staff and customers of The Oven Door Bakery of Fair Oak came to the rescue when a little donkey lost her home and was due to be sold off for meat.

The owners of The Oven Door, Ros and Jason, put up posters in their shop, asking customers for their help in saving the poor donkey. In less than a week, £200 was raised ... enough for St Francis to buy the donkey themselves and save her from a trip to the abbatoir!

The donkey has been named "Chocolate Muffin" by Ros and Jason, and is now enjoying a comfy, warm stable at St Francis Animal Welfare's shelter.

Chocolate Muffin desperately needs visits from the farrier, as her poor little hooves are very overgrown, making it extremely uncomfortable for her to walk. She will also require a check up from a vet. Therefore, donations are still welcomed, to put towards her future costs.

You could also help by sponsoring Chocolate Muffin from only £10. A sponsor will receive a colour Sponsorship Certificate and their own personal letter from Chocolate Muffin herself. Visit our sponsorship page HERE.
