Kanga's roadside rescue

Every now and then, we will receive a telephone call to rescue an injured animal. We received such a call in December 2006, and were told that a deer had been injured after having been hit by a car.
When we found the deer - a female Roe deer of almost 2 years of age - she was standing by the roadside, shivering and traumatised, as well as visibly injured.
We took her straight to the vets, where she was checked and diagnosed as having concussion as well as an injured bladder, which she was bleeding from. The vet put her on a drip, and it was doubtful whether she would pull through.
However, thankfully, she started to recover well from her injury, and was released into our care, so she could convalesce in her own accommodation at the shelter.
Kanga - as she has been called by shelter staff - is now almost ready to be released back to her own territory, in the Durley area.

UPDATE - February 2007
Kanga recovered very well from her injuries and has now been successfully released.
