Another Successful Summer Open Day!

This year's Summer Open Day on Sunday 3 June 2007 was a total success!

We were lucky enough to have a wonderfully sunny and warm day, so our visitors were able to enjoy sitting outside in our garden and barbeque area, having a drink and some food, while listening to our live music.

Our animals were on their best behaviour, as visitors walked around the site. Our goats, Nancy, Charlie Brown and Barley, were one of the main attractions, along with Arnie, our White Umbrella Cockatoo, who was very excited to have such an audience! Arnie chatted happily to everyone who stopped in front of his aviary, and treated them to a display of his handsome feathers, delighting children and adults alike!

We were also very honoured to have another visitor - a gorgeous albino Burmese Python called Connie - who posed for photos with members of the public, many of whom had never had the opportunity to hold a real snake!

Our pet food donation box at the gate was full to the brim, thanks to the generosity of our visitors.

We received many compliments for our new building, which houses much-needed extra kennels, a store room, an office and a "Pet Introduction Room" (where potential new owners can meet their new pet away from the distractions of the other animals in the kennels or cattery). The beautiful furniture in our Pet Introduction Room, as shown below, has been very kindly donated by 'Haddon House Furniture', whilst 'Office Furniture Newbury' have been incredibly generous by sponsoring our office.

We would like to thank our hard-working staff and team of volunteers, who gave up their free time to help make our Summer Open Day a success! This includes those who assisted us in setting up everything before the day ... an event in itself, as this all had to be organised inbetween the usual tending and feeding to all the animals!

We also appreciate the kind donations from the many companies (see below) which helped us raise funds on the day.

And a big thank you to all our visitors who turned up on the day! Your kind support is what enables St Francis Animal Welfare to go on treating and caring for unwanted and injured animals!
