12 unwanted cats in one day

Photo of stud farm cats

A local stud farm telephoned the shelter for help - they couldn't cope with all their cats, and wanted to bring them in to be rehomed. They had basically not neutered their existing cats and allowed them to breed and multiply. They brought us 12 cats in total - 6 adults and 6 kittens.

As well as failing to neuter the cats, they had not vaccinated them, and we had to treat many of them for worms and fleas!

Although we rely on charitable donations to look after our many animals, the stud farm did not donate a single penny to us for taking in these poor unwanted cats, and they told us that they were relying on another charity to pay for the neutering!

The cats and kittens are now all settled in at the shelter - given cosy beds to sleep in, regular meals, and toys for the kittens to play with. We treated them for the worms and fleas on their arrival, and they are doing well ... some of the kittens' poor little bellies were very swollen from the worms.

They are now available for adoption, and we will ensure that they all go to new, loving homes.
