Volunteers needed
Due to the increase of animals arriving at our shelter, we are currently in need of volunteers. A volunteer may offer as little or as much time as they are able to ... every hour will be very appreciated.
We need volunteers for the following:-
HOME CHECKS - Volunteers needed in the Hampshire area (and sometimes beyond!), to carry out pre-adoption home checks at prospective adopters' homes. You will be provided with a standard 'list' of requirements for adopters, to check off and return to us.
ANIMAL CARE - Cleaning out the animals' accommodation and assisting with feeding.
DOG WALKERS - Taking our kennelled dogs for a welcome, daily walk in a nearby field.
CAT SITTERS/GROOMERS - Providing company for our cats (those available for adoption as well as our permanent residents), and giving our long-haired cats a brush, to keep their coats tangle-free.
Please note that the majority of a volunteer's duties at the shelter are carried out daily between 9am and 4.30pm, and volunteers must be aged 14 and over (unless accompanied by an adult). FUNDRAISERS - This only involves providing assistance for arranged promotional events, such as open days and street collections and may include manning a stall to hand out informational leaflets or accept donations of pet food and/or money. CAKES ! We need some lovely cakes to sell at our Jumble Sales and Open Days! These always sell out, and are a great and yummy way to raise funds. If you can help, please email us on fundraising@sfaw.co.uk
